McDougall Minerals sells high-quality mineral specimens from all over the world at fair prices to collectors of all levels, from beginners to connoisseurs. The website includes news about recent finds and shows, learning resources, articles and photographs, and adventures to mineral localities.I have been deeply involved in the world of minerals and mining for the last 25 years, having acquired and dealt in thousands of mineral specimens (many acquired directly from the source and also personally collected). When it comes to mineral specimens themselves, I care most about three things: quality, aesthetics and the interesting-unusual.My prior career included 18 years with a top Canadian firm, where excellent, professional, responsive client service and client relationships were fundamental to our success, and I am happy to bring this same approach to McDougall Minerals. The goal of McDougall Minerals – what makes me tick these days – is to bring you the best I can in mineral specimens from all over the world, to help you enjoy the world of minerals and build the collection you want to build. I hope you will find our website interesting and fun to read – and hopefully you will find mineral specimens for your collection.
Location: Stak Nala, Gilgit-Skardu Road, Northern Areas, Pakistan
Size: 6.8 x 5.8 x 3.8 cm
Item #: 102078
Comments: This beautiful cabinet specimen features four elbaite crystals on albite. The elbaite crystals are sharp and lustrous, with good colour-zoning. The terminations are particularly nice on these crystals, with three bright, glassy, transparent faces (through which you can see some pink colouring) and three frosted faces. An interesting note, these crystals look great under ultraviolet light – presumably due to microscopic inclusions. In excellent condition – I see only one very tiny chip at the outside edge of the large crystal (you have to look for it) and that’s it – amazing quality. This piece is ex Cal Graeber – a great Stak Nala tourmaline.
Location: Sweet Home Mine, Alma District, Park County, Colorado, USA
Size: 5.5 cm x 4 cm – Cluster size: 3 cm x 2.8 cm
Item #: AB11
Comments: Great Rhodochrosite specimen from the world famous Sweet Home mine in Colorado, closed definitely in 2004. This specimen is formed by two very defined and well formed rhombohedral crystals of Rhodochrosite with a deep red color. The Rhodochrosites stand out and contrast strongly from the matrix formed by Pyrite, Tetrahedrite, Chalcopyrite and Quartz. In very good condition. A very fine Sweet Home mine Rhodochrosite specimen.
You’re welcome to join the Minemeralds’ club of friends to know the best specimens of Colombian emeralds and other fine minerals from around the world.
Size: Size: 38 x 32 x 40 mm — Featured Crystal: 19 x 8 mm
Comments: The Colombian euclases always amaze, especially this specimen because we are in front of a very rare euclase on matrix with pyrite inclusions. The specimen is very aesthetical and the euclase crystal is very transparent with an intense blue color characteristic of Gachalá deposit. This color contrast nicely with the calcite’s white where the euclase is arranged. Due to its rareness and beauty, this is a must-have mineral specimen for a collection of unique pieces.
Location: found near Guernsey, Wyoming in limestone rocks
Weight: 3 Lb 8.3 Oz
Comments: Unique Youngite Specimen found near Guernsey, Wyoming in limestone rocks. Has druzy vugs with Botryoidal areas. Youngite which is a variety of Agatized Limestone or Brecciated Jasper with Druzy Quartz and Chalcedony coating. This material fluoresces Lime Green under Short Wave Light. Weighs about 3 Lb 8.3 Oz. I say unique but could say rare as one always sees this material with a lot of brown jasper inside. Below the penny on the last picture a small chip has been removed to show the jasper underneath. Please search the net. Also the specimen shows 2 see through open area vugs.
There are always lots of “clearance” items posted!
Location: Chebka sidi Said, Midelt, Khenifra Province, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Size: 7.2 x 5.6 x 3.1 cm (small cabinet) – Largest Crystal: 1.1 cm
Item #: TUC31719
Comments: A rarity for Fluorite, especially from Morocco. This piece hosts dozens of sharp, well-formed, gemmy, golden cubic Fluorite crystals which measure up to 1.1 cm, but the most interesting aspect of the piece is that the Fluorites are included with small silvery crystals of Galena sitting on Quartz matrix. There are also some Galena crystals ON the Fluorites, so they obviously formed in tandem, but the fact that you can distinctly see actual Galena crystals inside of Fluorite is rare in my experience. I can remember seeing Galena and Fluorite combos from the English lead mines, but not quite in the same style as this piece. If you collect Fluorites, this is a unique novelty that would be worth adding to your collection.

Location: Sakavalana mine, Ambatovita, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar
Size: 3.44cm x 3.06cm x 1.85cm
Comments: A terrific example of this rare species from Madagascar!!! Nearly all pezzottaite specimens are seen as single crystals, with matrix specimens being extremely rare by comparison!!! This specimen hosts a rich group of deep magenta pink pezzottaite crystals on matrix!!! The crystals range in size up to 1cm with sharply defined faces, marked luster and significant translucence as well!!! This specimen is in terrific condition and displays magnficently in person!!! This specimen retains a previous dealer label with a signature from Federico Pezzotta, for whom the species is named!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!

Location: Nakhlak Mine, Anarak District, Nain County, Esfahan Province, Iran
Size: 5 × 4.5 × 2.5 cm
Item #: IRC1707
Comments: The latest mineralogical novel from Iran. Cerusite of light bronze color, with shades of dark orange. Optimally crystallized, it has a metallic brilliance. Its crystallization is robust and dense, very beautiful to look at. The reason for its color is still being studied, but it seems to include iron oxides or other minerals. This mine is truly amazing for the various types of cerusitis it has produced. Origin: locals seekers / Finding: spring 2017 / Tunnel vein 24.
Location: 9th September (Deveti Septemvri) mine, Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
Size: 47 x 40 x 23 mm
Item #: 1217088
Location: Medina, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 4,5 x 2,2 x 1,9 cm
Item #: csgaqua2
Comments: A complex formed, gemmy crystal group with beautiful color. Very esthetic.
Location: Himalaya Mine, San Diego Co., California
Size: 3.7 x 1.2 x 1.2 cm
Item #: 4664
Comments: A gemmy, bicolor Tourmaline from the famous Himalaya Mine. The colors are a light, bubble gum pink and a light olive green. When viewed from the bottom of the crystal, the green area can be seen as reverse watermelon with a rind of pink encasing the green interior. Very gemmy but not quite facet grade except for small stones; still much more gemmy than is usually seen from the location. The termination is interesting with a central, triangular face. Note on the colors in the pictures: because of the clarity of the crystal, the colors look much darker with a darker background. If displayed in a case, the colors would be like the pictures with the white background. Also, the iron staining on the clay encrustions is white in person – for some reason the minor iron staining in these come out much stronger in the photos.
Location: Himalaya Mine, San Diego County, California
Size: 28.6mm (L) x 18.1 mm (W) x 16.7mm (H) – (approx.) – 18.4 grams
Item #: T-007
Comments: – Translucent pink tourmaline with slight green hue on tips from famous Himalaya Mine in California. Please note that the two end views are slightly darker than shows in the pictures.

My name is Marco Macchieraldo, I’m an Italian mineral collector and live in Torino, a big town in the north of Italy near the Alps mountains. I was born in 1959 and collect minerals since 1985. I’m member of the Associazione Piemontese di Mineralogia e Paleontologia (A.P.M.P.). I created this site to show some of the best specimens from my private collection, to public my trade lists of minerals with photographs and to exchange experiences with other collectors.
We are one of India’s oldest mineral dealers, our roots go back to 1953. At that time, we were one of the few dealers in India exporting zeolites. We have been mining since 1970, and in 1977 we mined the famous ‘Poona green apophyllite’ from our own quarry at the ‘Pashan Hill’ in Pune, India.
We have progressively mined green apophyllite, scolecite and cavansite from our own sites in Maharashtra, India and hence, we have access to the top grade, the medium and the low grade of these minerals.
Today we are a major mineral company exporting zeolites from the Deccan Traps, and various minerals from India to all corners of the world.
We attend the Tucson and the Munich Show every year.
As a German mineralogist I spent over 12 years (from 1988 to 2000) in Mexico, where I worked as a geologist in precious metal exploration. Currently I am living in Germany, however I travel to Mexico several times per year, sometimes because I perform a short working contract, but my principal interest is the search of mineral specimens.
Most of the minerals I offer have been purchased directly from the mine personnel, but from time to time I also have the possibility to collect minerals by myself. Although there exist uncountable possibilities to collect minerals in the field or in abandoned mining districts, over 80% of the top quality mineral specimens from Mexico are recovered from active mines. Unfortunately many mines have closed or have reduced their production in the last few years due to extremely low metal prices in the world market, consequently it is getting more and more difficult to find this high quality. Nevertheless I will continue with my efforts in exploring Mexico for the finest mineral specimens. You will find major updates after each Mexico trip and generally the new top specimens appear first on this web page, before I offer them for sale in the mineral shows. I hope you enjoy my mineral galleries.
