McDougall Minerals sells high-quality mineral specimens from all over the world at fair prices to collectors of all levels, from beginners to connoisseurs. The website includes news about recent finds and shows, learning resources, articles and photographs, and adventures to mineral localities.I have been deeply involved in the world of minerals and mining for the last 25 years, having acquired and dealt in thousands of mineral specimens (many acquired directly from the source and also personally collected). When it comes to mineral specimens themselves, I care most about three things: quality, aesthetics and the interesting-unusual.My prior career included 18 years with a top Canadian firm, where excellent, professional, responsive client service and client relationships were fundamental to our success, and I am happy to bring this same approach to McDougall Minerals. The goal of McDougall Minerals – what makes me tick these days – is to bring you the best I can in mineral specimens from all over the world, to help you enjoy the world of minerals and build the collection you want to build. I hope you will find our website interesting and fun to read – and hopefully you will find mineral specimens for your collection.
Location: Chumar Bakhoor, Hunza Valley, Gilgit District, Gilgit-Baltistan, N.A., Pakistan
Size: 12.1 x 10.2 x 10.2 cm
Item #: 100355
Comments: This gorgeous aquamarine specimen is special beyond its aesthetics. I acquired it in May,1990, which makes it an early one of these (and I’ve loved having it in my cabinet since then). In addition, it is a bit different from the specimens of muscovite which include 3-5 aquas – this is host to a large number of crystals (50-100), not just a few isolated ones – it is truly a cluster of aquamarine crystals with muscovite perched in and around the aquas. There are seven doubly-terminated crystals around the periphery, including two featuring prominently at the top, as displayed. Many of the crystals have excellent transparency, so the light plays nicely, giving internal sparkle and even a bit of subtle prism-like rainbow colour when you look closely. The upper crystal that appears darker blue is the same beautiful pale blue as the large one at lower left – it appears a bit darker because it is clear, and you’re looking right through it to the muscovite behind. The piece is in excellent condition. There is one transparent chip in the termination of the left-of centre forward-facing doubly-terminated crystal – it does not pick up the light in the display case and so you really have to look for it. Otherwise no visible damage except a bit around the periphery where it had been attached in the pocket. The crystals of muscovite on the aquamarine crystals provide a super offset. This is a great cabinet specimen of aquamarine!

Location: Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region (Oshikoto), Namibia
Size: 4.5 x 3.7 x 3.1 cm (miniature) – Largest Crystal: 1.1 cm
Item #: WWMIX71308
Comments: One of the staples of any collection, especially a Tsumeb collection, is Dioptase. Perhaps the signature mineral from this storied locality, the color of this species is never duplicated (neither in nature nor in photos). These photos are pretty darn good with regard to accurately portraying the color of the Dioptase, but it is still better in person. This miniature sized specimen features a few good sized sparkling, emerald-green color Dioptase crystals on white Calcite. Very good quality overall, and beautiful aesthetics to boot.

Location: Zapata claims (Zapata Mine), Icabaru River placers, Santa Elena de Uairen, Bolivar, Venezuela
Size: 1.45cm x 1.06cm x 1.16cm
Comments: A unique example of native gold with quartz from Venezuela!!! This specimen consists of a small group of quartz crystals that is intimately intergrown with native gold!!! The native gold exhibits a rich, buttery yellow hue with lively metallic brilliance!!! The quartz crystals exhibit some slight alluvial wear and the gold exhibits some curious, subtle crystalline details upon close inspection with a loupe or scope (as if it was made up of numerous, minute crystals that have been compressed together)!!! Unique, handsome material!!!

My name is Marco Macchieraldo, I’m an Italian mineral collector and live in Torino, a big town in the north of Italy near the Alps mountains. I was born in 1959 and collect minerals since 1985. I’m member of the Associazione Piemontese di Mineralogia e Paleontologia (A.P.M.P.). I created this site to show some of the best specimens from my private collection, to public my trade lists of minerals with photographs and to exchange experiences with other collectors.
We are one of India’s oldest mineral dealers, our roots go back to 1953. At that time, we were one of the few dealers in India exporting zeolites. We have been mining since 1970, and in 1977 we mined the famous ‘Poona green apophyllite’ from our own quarry at the ‘Pashan Hill’ in Pune, India.
We have progressively mined green apophyllite, scolecite and cavansite from our own sites in Maharashtra, India and hence, we have access to the top grade, the medium and the low grade of these minerals.
Today we are a major mineral company exporting zeolites from the Deccan Traps, and various minerals from India to all corners of the world.
We attend the Tucson and the Munich Show every year.
As a German mineralogist I spent over 12 years (from 1988 to 2000) in Mexico, where I worked as a geologist in precious metal exploration. Currently I am living in Germany, however I travel to Mexico several times per year, sometimes because I perform a short working contract, but my principal interest is the search of mineral specimens.
Most of the minerals I offer have been purchased directly from the mine personnel, but from time to time I also have the possibility to collect minerals by myself. Although there exist uncountable possibilities to collect minerals in the field or in abandoned mining districts, over 80% of the top quality mineral specimens from Mexico are recovered from active mines. Unfortunately many mines have closed or have reduced their production in the last few years due to extremely low metal prices in the world market, consequently it is getting more and more difficult to find this high quality. Nevertheless I will continue with my efforts in exploring Mexico for the finest mineral specimens. You will find major updates after each Mexico trip and generally the new top specimens appear first on this web page, before I offer them for sale in the mineral shows. I hope you enjoy my mineral galleries.
