Featured Item: Fluorite, Quartz
Location: Nadonjukin, Simanjiro, Tanzania
Size: miniature – 3.8 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm
Item #: T551
Comments: Terminated single gem crystal of Chrome Tourmaline which is a chromium and vanadium rich Dravite. Complete all around with deep emerald green coloration and gemmy!! This is one the best I’ve seen of this all green style from the ‘Commander Mine’ find in 2016. There is unfortunately part of the crystal missing from the lower back side as seen in the third photo. Regardless, it is a spectacular crystal that would command twice as much or more if perfect, the color and clarity is just that good, and it can be displayed without showing the missing area. Last photo is backlit. Weighs 17.2 grams.
McDougall Minerals sells high-quality mineral specimens from all over the world at fair prices to collectors of all levels, from beginners to connoisseurs. The website includes news about recent finds and shows, learning resources, articles and photographs, and adventures to mineral localities.I have been deeply involved in the world of minerals and mining for the last 25 years, having acquired and dealt in thousands of mineral specimens (many acquired directly from the source and also personally collected). When it comes to mineral specimens themselves, I care most about three things: quality, aesthetics and the interesting-unusual.My prior career included 18 years with a top Canadian firm, where excellent, professional, responsive client service and client relationships were fundamental to our success, and I am happy to bring this same approach to McDougall Minerals. The goal of McDougall Minerals – what makes me tick these days – is to bring you the best I can in mineral specimens from all over the world, to help you enjoy the world of minerals and build the collection you want to build. I hope you will find our website interesting and fun to read – and hopefully you will find mineral specimens for your collection.
Location: El Hammam Mine, Meknes, Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Size: 4.1 x 3.8 x 2.9 cm
Item #: 101242
Comments: The apex of this wonderful cluster features a 1.4 cm transparent yellow fluorite crystal with fine internal purple phantom lines. These same phantom lines are visible in the other fluorites on the piece as well. The fluorite crystals are dusted in places with sparkling pyrite. In excellent condition, no damage to the main crystal, minor chips/rubs on a couple others. Under the display lights there are glowing internal reflections in the largest crystal. Super colour, great specimen.
Location: Berbes mining area, Berbes, Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain

Comments: A classic sample from Berbes. Group of cubic crystals of Fluorite, one of them centered in the middle of the piece and clearly dominant, of excellent transparency, nice lilac color and a marked geometrical zoning. The crystals have grown on an aggregatte of white laminar crystals of Baryte. In excellent condition. Very nice Spanish Fluorite.

Location: Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Division, Myanmar (Burma)
Size: 5.7 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm (small cabinet)
Item #: TUC31717
Comments: It has been next to impossible to obtain fine quality Spinel specimens from Burma these days it seems. Matrix specimens of Spinel are uncommon, and to find gem quality crystals on matrix is extremely difficult. This piece hosts a classic Burmese “Ruby Spinel” crystal with very sharp, defined, lustrous, octahedral faces and a gemmy vibrant pinkish-red color. The best part of the crystal is that it shows classic “Spinel-law” twinning, with a compressed octahedral form. The crystal sits atop a matrix of massive white Calcite. The piece is very showy and extremely aesthetic for the material, and certainly not easily replaced in this market. This piece was mined around 2000, and is one of the finer Spinels from the collection of my father, Richard A. Kosnar. The best of these specimens are simply the finest in the world for what they are. This is an example of a non-pegmatite gem mineral for which many collectors probably do not have a good specimen in their collections.

Location: Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalia, Boleo District, Mun. de Mulege, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Size: 6.13cm x 3.57cm x 2.52cm
Comments: A terrific example of boleite on matrix from Mexico!!! This specimen hosts a sharp cubic crystal of deep blue boleite prominently perched on matrix!!! Boleite crystals are almost always encountered as loose crystals because they were typically found in a very friable clay matrix!!! Of the matrix specimens that do exist there are a number that are repaired or “created” by stabilizing the clay with glue or epoxy!!! This specimen however is a real, unrepaired matrix specimen – the matrix is partially comprised of gypsum!!! The boleite crystal has razor-sharp faces with glassy luster and deep blue color!!! Simply a fantastic example of this rare species!!! This specimen is from the collection of F. John Barlow and retains its original affixed catalogue number as well!!!

Size: 3 x 4.3 x 2.9 cm
Item #: MO16015
Comments: Amethyst on Afghan matrix. Uncommon to encounter. This sample goes back to a discovery of this spring. The color is intense. The array of white carbonates, gives a great contrast. The crystal is double-ended. Very good condition.
Location: Krushev Dol mine, Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
Size: 124 x 80 x 34 mm
Item #: 0517006
Location: Red Cloud Mine, Arizona, USA
Size: 3.4 x 2.3 x 1.1 cm

Location: Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
Size: 4.5 x 4.1 x 1.8 cm
Item #: 498
Comments: The Aquamarine crystals on this specimen are well formed hexagonal crystals. They are an attractive blue color with a hint of green. The crystals are very clear and have very high luster. Scattered across them are small Schorl crystals. The base is composed of Albite. The specimen is in very good condition with only very small chips in the terminations edges which are not very noticeable. The specimen is quite attractive.

My name is Marco Macchieraldo, I’m an Italian mineral collector and live in Torino, a big town in the north of Italy near the Alps mountains. I was born in 1959 and collect minerals since 1985. I’m member of the Associazione Piemontese di Mineralogia e Paleontologia (A.P.M.P.). I created this site to show some of the best specimens from my private collection, to public my trade lists of minerals with photographs and to exchange experiences with other collectors.
We are one of India’s oldest mineral dealers, our roots go back to 1953. At that time, we were one of the few dealers in India exporting zeolites. We have been mining since 1970, and in 1977 we mined the famous ‘Poona green apophyllite’ from our own quarry at the ‘Pashan Hill’ in Pune, India.
We have progressively mined green apophyllite, scolecite and cavansite from our own sites in Maharashtra, India and hence, we have access to the top grade, the medium and the low grade of these minerals.
Today we are a major mineral company exporting zeolites from the Deccan Traps, and various minerals from India to all corners of the world.
We attend the Tucson and the Munich Show every year.
As a German mineralogist I spent over 12 years (from 1988 to 2000) in Mexico, where I worked as a geologist in precious metal exploration. Currently I am living in Germany, however I travel to Mexico several times per year, sometimes because I perform a short working contract, but my principal interest is the search of mineral specimens.
Most of the minerals I offer have been purchased directly from the mine personnel, but from time to time I also have the possibility to collect minerals by myself. Although there exist uncountable possibilities to collect minerals in the field or in abandoned mining districts, over 80% of the top quality mineral specimens from Mexico are recovered from active mines. Unfortunately many mines have closed or have reduced their production in the last few years due to extremely low metal prices in the world market, consequently it is getting more and more difficult to find this high quality. Nevertheless I will continue with my efforts in exploring Mexico for the finest mineral specimens. You will find major updates after each Mexico trip and generally the new top specimens appear first on this web page, before I offer them for sale in the mineral shows. I hope you enjoy my mineral galleries.
