Mineral Artists on display at the 2008 Tucson Gem & Mineral Show

This year at the 2008 Tucson Gem & Mineral show Rob Lavinsky
unveiled a number of mineral specimen potraits that he comissioned by the
famous wildlife artist Gamini Ratnavira.

As you can see from the pictures, each painting is
an extact watercolor potrait of an individual specimen.

Justin and I were quite impressed with not only on the
technical side of the Gamini's work, but also with the display in general.

I particularly like this style of mineral specimen painting,
not only because it is the same style of mineral art that
I have been producing since late 2004,
but because realism is my prefered style of art.
